Frequently Asked Questions
Is it legal for a third party to complete I-9 Section 2?
Yes. USCIS explicitly permits employers to designate any person of their choosing as an authorized representative to complete Section 2. The employer remains legally responsible for the I-9 regardless of who completes it on their behalf.
What documents can the employee present?
The employee may present any document or combination from the USCIS Lists of Acceptable Documents (List A, or List B plus List C). The employee chooses which documents to present they cannot be told which specific documents to bring.
What if the employee doesn't have acceptable documents at the appointment?
We can only complete Section 2 when the employee presents acceptable original documents. If they are unable to present documents we cannot complete the form and a follow-up appointment will be needed. Note that USCIS requires Section 2 to be completed within 3 business days of the employee's first day of work.
Can you complete I-9s for multiple new hires at the same location?
Yes. Group I-9 appointments at a single employer location are available. Contact us for scheduling and group pricing.
Are you immigration attorneys?
No. We are not attorneys and do not provide immigration legal advice. We assist with the physical in-person document review component of the I-9 process only. For legal guidance on I-9 compliance, audit preparation, or E-Verify, consult a qualified immigration attorney.
